Final Intertextuality Project

After reading Michelle's many suggestions for topics and thinking about what would truly interest me for this project, I came to the conclusion that I would like to create a map on Neatline with four different stories about female protagonists who rebel against their communities in some way. I will be looking for female characters similar to Aneeka and Antigone, who have strong personalities and don't back down for what they believe in.

I decided to do my project with Neatline because I think it will be the most efficient way to show where each of my texts is from and will be the easiest way to portray the contrast in location. I think it would also be cool for readers/viewers to have the interactive experience and be able to explore the texts themselves. I decided to do my project on texts with female protagonists because, as a women myself, I want to learn more about women's struggles globally. This project will give me the perfect opportunity to learn more about minorities in other countries and specifically how women in these groups feel and deal with adversity. Stories like these always inspire me and I can't wait to find new texts and become more motivated by women all over the world who face and persevere against adversity 10x worse than I can ever imagine.

  1. Hey Eloise! I love this topic, and the meaning you put behind it. I am interested to see what texts you end up finding, and how you can draw parallels between Antigone/Aneeka and these new characters you end up finding. I agree that Neatline will definitely be helpful for this project. Very impressed that you already have a solid idea ready to start work on! Awesome job :)

  2. Hi Eloise! I'm sure you'll really enjoy completing this project! I think it's really easy to forget how different yet similar our struggles as women are, so doing this research would be really eye opening. Your idea makes me feel a lot better about using Neatline! I hope you find stories that truly inspire you!

  3. Hey Eloise! That sounds like it would be a great research topic! I can't wait to see which novels/stories you choose. I feel like there are so many great ones throughout time and globally! I wish you the best of luck! :)

  4. Hey Eloise! I think the research topic of texts with female protagonists is an interesting choice. Literature as a whole doesn't have nearly as many female protagonist stories than it does male protagonist stories. It will be interesting to explore the struggle of these characters in their respective stories.

  5. Hi Eloise, that sounds like a very interesting and relevant topic, especially in today's society. I am really interested to see the similarities and differences between how authors make the female protagonists be treated when they revolt as society progresses over time and in the different cultures throughout the world.

  8. Great topic, although I think someone else has also selected it. So let's try to find a way to distinguish these somewhat from each other to cover the same topic from slightly different angles... since you mention minorities, would you like to focus specifically on non-white women who rebel? You can do that and keep the genre open to allow different forms (poetry, fiction, drama, etc.).
