Neatline

Learning how to use Neatline was fun! I liked how the teacher took us through each step slowly and stopped at certain points to check in and make sure we were all doing it right. The software was also relatively straightforward after we learned what everything actually meant. It will be fun doing a project using that software and I'm excited to see how we use it in the future. I am slightly worried that I will forget how to use it correctly in the future and possibly mess it up. Some of the terms used in place of the functions were slightly confusing and it might be helpful for me if before we begin a project using Neatline to meet with the teacher. I'm also interested to see what types of projects we do with Neatline. It was interesting to see how far apart each different location in Home Fire was. I never realized how far away Pakistan was from London and then how far that was from where Parvaiz actually died. It gave me a good perspective on how hard it was for Parvaiz to get home and for Aneeka to get to his body. Neatline is a really useful tool and I hope in the future we can use it earlier in our readings so we can consider it throughout the novel.

  1. The whole class session was recorded, so you can always go back to the video, or follow along with the shorter tutorials Colin posted on Camino. Glad you're looking forward to trying it out!
